Episode summary

• The story continues to explore the strained relationship between the young academy teacher, Iruka, and his troublesome student, Naruto.
• Iruka struggles to connect with Naruto, and his own painful childhood memories of the Nine-Tailed Fox make it difficult for him to treat the boy with the kindness he needs.
• After being rejected by his classmates, Naruto tries to scare them with a prank in the graveyard. Iruka confronts him, and Naruto, feeling hurt and misunderstood, runs away and declares he will never return to the Academy.
• Later, the same kids who rejected Naruto trick him into going on a dangerous solo mission in the forest, hoping he will get hurt. Iruka, learning of the cruel trick, rushes to the forest to protect Naruto.
