Squid Game, the sixth and final episode of season 3 is titled "Humans Are...". It premiered on June 27, 2025, alongside the rest of the season.

After burning the records room, No-eul contemplates suicide, but chooses not to. With only Myung-gi, Gi-hun and the baby left, Myung-gi plans to have Gi-hun give him the baby so he can throw it off and prevent Gi-hun from crossing, thus winning the entire prize, but Gi-hun eventually manages to get across. A fight leads to Myung-gi falling to his death, though this does not count as the game had not officially started. Gi-hun then presses the button to begin and chooses to sacrifice himself, declaring in his final words that the players were "humans, not horses", before throwing himself off the edge. His death shocks the VIPs, and influences In-ho to rescue the baby as the island is set to self-destruct as the Coast Guard begin closing in. Jun-ho, the VIPs, No-eul and the staff manage to evacuate in time. Six months later, Gyeong-seok reunites with his daughter and meets No-eul, who prepares to travel to China where her daughter may be; Sae-byeok's brother, Cheol, reunites with his mother. Woo-seok is released from prison with plans to renovate and open Gi-hun's fortified hotel. Meanwhile, In-ho leaves the baby and the prize money to Jun-ho. He also visits Gi-hun's daughter in Los Angeles to inform her of his death and give her his bloody Player 456 tracksuit and remaining winnings. After leaving, In-ho notices an American recruiter playing ddakji with a man, revealing the existence of the games in America

Episode synopsis

• A moral sacrifice: The episode begins with Gi-hun and the baby as the last remaining "players" after Gi-hun defeated the villainous Myung-gi. Instead of killing the baby to win, Gi-hun refuses to participate any further. In a final, desperate act to protest and end the game, he sacrifices himself by jumping from the final tower.
• Front Man's last vestige of humanity: Following Gi-hun's protest, the Front Man (revealed as Hwang In-ho, Player 001) is shaken. He chooses to save the baby from the collapsing island, showing a lingering sign of his humanity.
• The island is destroyed: As the Coast Guard closes in, the Front Man detonates explosives, destroying the entire game facility. Jun-ho, the undercover detective, and the remaining VIPs and staff escape.
• Six months later: The final scenes show what happens after the game's destruction.
  • The baby: The Front Man leaves the baby and the prize money for his brother, Jun-ho, to raise.
  • Gi-hun's legacy: In-ho delivers Gi-hun's winnings and bloody tracksuit to his daughter in Los Angeles, who is informed of his death.
  • A new game recruit: The season ends with a new game recruiter (played by Cate Blanchett) playing ddakji with a man, suggesting the games continue in America.
• The cycle continues: The series concludes with the tragic implication that, despite all the sacrifices and noble intentions, the brutal cycle of the game continues.
